The house was named Canyon Edge and it is located in Cuernavaca, Austin, Texas, USA. It was developed by the famous Tom Hurt Architecture. This modern house is situated on a wooded site that dominated by a steep and narrow slope.
The house is located on a ridge about ten feet beneath the road. The unique location offers the house soothing sceneries through the tree canopies of the canyon below. The unique location also inspires the house to have a unique design; the warm wooden roof of the living room pulls upward dynamically toward the road above and thus formed a carport. As stated by the architects, the house was initially built speculatively, but then it becomes the residence of a dynamic couple, along with their pets as well as their busy lifestyles. In total, the house has an area of 2,200 sq. ft. and has three bedroom.
The most notable feature of this modern house in Texas without a doubt is its carport. The roof guides the approaching view of the owners through their living area and the trees as well as the canyon below. The roof connects the external aspect by the auto-vehicle to the internal aspect of the living room beneath it; it’s an important experience of this modern house. The house’s sustainable features include passive and active solar-design panel roofs, as well as heat-reducing retention walls. This modern house in Texas built between canopies is truly an amazing sight to behold and let’s not forget, it’s also has amazing sights of the canyon below.
