If we think about it, there is a special aspect about a scent. When you are in a room and that room has a distinct smell, almost immediately you are hit by a memory from a particular place and time. You can make the same effect at your very home using these tricks.
1. Make a pot simmer.
"I knew this trick from my skillful mother," says Rhobin DelaCruz, an interior designer. "Boil water using a small pot and then add some citrus slices. Next, you add some herbs, such as mint or lavender." The heat will spread that fresh and relaxing scent all over your house. This is a simple trick that can be used for your party or your weekend.
2. Clean the disposal.
Notice a stink that wont go away after a few day? You need to inspect the sink. "First spray some dish soap, preferably orange or lemon-scented, to the disposal. Then flow the water and turn the disposal on," says Keita Turner, an interior designer. You can replace the dish soap with lime, orange, or lemon peels. If the stink remains, you need to pour into the disposal some baking soda, like half a cup. This time use warm water.
3. Place some candles strategically.
Candles are the easiest way in making your room smell amazing, but you can maximize their efficiency with some strategic placement. "Place some candles in places you’d least expect the candles to be," Dee Murphy, an interior designer says. "You could place it at the linen cabinet or any other place where you store textile materials. The textiles will absorb the candle’s scent. You will not only get a sweet scent as you open your cabinet’s door, your textiles will also bring the sweet scent wherever you wear them." Try to use a good product like unstopables candles. They have a scent that is long-lasting with modern and cool designs.
4. Put some plants within your room.
"Indoor plants is able to clean the air as well as to make your home more beautiful," Turner says. Many of the plants bring pleasant scents too. Turner suggests to have plants like Cuban oregano, corsage orchids, gardenias, eucalyptus, Arabian jasmine, and geraniums.
5. Utilize the air vents.
"Attach a car deodorant such as Glade or Febreze to the vent's wooden or metal slats," DelaCruz says. "When the air move through, the sweet aroma will float throughout the entire room."
6. Turn your oven on.
Nothing compares to the sweet aroma of fresh bakery. "When I will have guests to come over to my place, I will make some bakery purposely for that special moment," Murphy says. "Some simple bakery like banana breads or cinnamon rolls make the house filled with sweet aroma."
