You will be amazed with this 1930s modernist house design by Leon Stynen located in Schoten, Antwerp, Belgium.
This is a one of a kind architectural gem filled with details of the 1930s era; that if you’re a fan of 1930s era, this modernist house might very will become your dream house.
The house was built in 1933, designed by an architect inspired by the works of the famous architect Le Corbusier.
The design has a touch of simplicity, yet at the same time you can feel its ‘presence’ in the house. The linear lines, and the curves, as well as the subtle detailing like the circular porthole windows, and also the sculpture on the external part and staircase of the house.
Now on the inside, you will really get the idea of the degree of originality of this 1930s modernist house. The staircase still looks dramatic, and the windows and doors are still untouched; but the heating looks that it needs upgrading albeit it looks still amazing.
This 1930s modernist house definitely needs a complete renovation, as told by the property agent. While the roof of the house had been renovated a decade ago, the interior really demand an update and renovation.
Obviously there is no need to do a total ‘blatant’ renovation. It requires someone experienced with that era and has the love as well to do the renovation unexcessively, while at the same time create some practical features from the contemporary era.
An extra point is, in 1969, the caretaker’s garage and house were built using the very same style; they could be utilized for storage or office room. The caretaker’s garage and house are included if you buy the main house; there’s a plot next to this house that you can buy separately too.
Regarding the price, the house can be purchased for the price of €698,000. It, indeed, needs some works to be done, but with a proper renovation, this 1930s modernist house could be a good investment and a great architectural asset.
